1. Oti Mabuse | 12 June 2022
Star of Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing on Ice, Oti Mabuse is hitting the Norwich Theatre Royal stage for a night of electrifying choreography. Through the language of dance, this show celebrates the inspiration and motivation that took Oti from her home in South Africa to the bright lights of TV.
2. Tango Encounters | 16 June 2022
Tango Encounters is a raw, intoxicating display of tango dance and music, from the golden age of the 1930s to the exquisite and powerful Nuevo Tango of Astor Piazzolla and beyond.
3. Carlos Acosta – On Before | 29 – 30 July 2022
Carlos Acosta’s – On Before is returning this summer after a sold-out run in 2021. Norwich Theatre will then take the show on its very first international tour, a bold statement of intent for the organisation’s future ambitions not just to present but also to originate and produce small and large-scale work itself.
Carlos Acosta dances a full-length show that pays homage to his late mother and is the most personal work he has ever created.
4. Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo | 30 September – 1 October 2022
The Trocks have entertained audiences worldwide with its playful representation of classical ballet. This show features plenty of comedy, sassy spoofs and stellar choreography, with its all-male cast dancing every role, including dancing the women’s parts en pointe.
Expect tutus and testosterone, blush-pink ballet pumps, fierce false eyelashes and prima ballerina attitude.
5. BORN TO EXIST: the woman I know | 10 October 2022
BORN TO EXIST forms Joseph Toonga’s third part of his Nationally acclaimed Hip Hop Dance trilogy that invites change. Joseph’s signature choreographic style is once again used as a storytelling tool to educate and provide the platform for ultimate activism.
BORN TO EXIST is a response to Joseph’s personal experience of being solely brought up by black women. It is a journey through the lens of Toonga, from a young boy to a man with his own family and how he appreciates the strong, resilient, self-contained, and self-sacrificing females that brought him up.
6. The Nutcracker | 22 -26 November 2022
Join the Northern Ballet for this ever-popular festive treat as you get taken on Clara’s adventures as she is swept away by her Nutcracker Prince into an enchanting winter wonderland.
This is a sweet treat to banish the winter blues as Tchaikovsky’s score transports you to a land of dreams, with a story lifted straight from the pages of a classic fairy tale.
7. Hold Tight by Vincent Dance Theatre | 24 November 2022
Hold Tight is a full-length, inter-generational ensemble production exploring the impact of separation on family relationships and how abrupt change and adverse childhood experiences impact young people.
8. Peaky Blinders: The Redemption of Thomas Shelby | 17 – 21 January 2023
Get your flap caps ready! The gritty TV drama, Peaky Blinders, with its 1900’s gangsters, guns, knives and razor blades, has been turned into a dance event by Rambert.
This show showcases dazzling, athletic dance and stunning dramatisation with an iconic, eclectic Peaky soundtrack from a live on-stage band. Get your tickets by order of the Peaky Blinders.
9. Tap Factory | 11 February
Tap Factory is a fusion of live music and choreography with its high-energy dance style, explosive percussion, and awe-inspiring acrobatics. The company gives new life to the most ordinary objects in a show guaranteed to rattle the senses and set your toes tapping.
10. Matthew Bourne – Sleeping Beauty | 4 – 8 April
Get ready to be transported in time from the tranquil days of the late Edwardian era to the modern-day in this dazzling gothic romance.
This magical performance sees you enter a wondrous world of magical fairies and vampires. The timeless tale of good vs evil is turned upside-down, creating a supernatural love story that even the passage of time itself cannot hinder.
11. Matthew Bourne’s The Car Man | 9 – 19 June | The Royal Albert Hall
If you are looking to get your Matthew Bourne to fix before Sleeping Beauty comes to us in April next year. Why not go see Matthew Bourne’s multi-award winning The Car Man at the Royal Albert Hall. There are just 14 performances in June and it won’t be touring!
