Norwich Theatre is thrilled to announce further additions to the line-up for its outdoor season of live performances and creative activities, INTERLUDE in the CLOSE.

Starting with a Circus Spectacular on Tuesday 13 July, to coincide with Dippy the Dinosaur’s first opening to the public, new shows added to the line-up include multi-award winning Police Cops: Badass (29 Jul), hot off the back of total sell-out runs at Edinburgh Fringe Festival & Soho Theatre, and world class comedy with Rich Hall, Ed Gamble, Lou Sanders and Ellie Taylor, fresh from her debut Netflix stand-up special.

After his sold out run at INTERLUDE last year, Norfolk’s favourite comedian Karl Minns (17-18 Aug) returns this year without the wigs and costumes but with all of his brilliant and laugh-out-loud storytelling in his one-man show Sortabiography.

Families can look forward to The MIGHTY KIDS Beatbox Comedy Show (1 Aug), a sensational interactive show where the worlds of comedy and beatboxing collide with electrifying results, and StrongWomen Science (24-30 Aug), starring two women scientists turned circus performers… Ever wanted to know how you can juggle liquid or how circus performers eat fire? Engineer Aoife Raleigh and environmental scientist Maria Corcoran reveal the scientific secrets behind their astounding tricks. Further educational and engagement activities for school-age children and community groups will be announced soon.

Lost in Translation Circus returns with their Cabaret Lates from 24 – 30 Aug, a bold and joyous celebration of performers from different arts forms and backgrounds coming together for a great night of live entertainment.

INTERLUDE in the CLOSE culminates with a circus-based celebration of community and togetherness in the city on Monday 30 August.

Set in the iconic Norwich Cathedral Close in a big-top circus tent from 14 July to 30 August 2021, INTERLUDE in the CLOSE features a packed programme of live performances and creative experiences for all ages including a range of events and activities to support and complement the National History Museum’s much anticipated ‘Dippy the Dinosaur Tour’. Set to be one of the major cultural events in the East of England, the museum’s much-loved Diplodocus cast is due to come to Norwich Cathedral from 13 July to 30 October 2021.

INTERLUDE in the CLOSE is designed to be not only COVID-safe but COVID-resilient, ensuring all events can be delivered even if Stage 4 of the Government’s roadmap is delayed, and if levels of social distancing for outdoor performances remain in place through the summer.

Delivered in partnership with Lost in Translation Circus, Norwich Cathedral and Norwich School, the outdoor season aims to bridge the gap until Norwich Theatre’s indoor venues fully re-open in September 2021.
