A fantastic new line-up of shows has just gone on sale from Norwich Theatre, with a wide range of new productions for Norwich Theatre Royal and Playhouse, including Norwich Theatre’s co-production of Jake Humphrey’s High Performance podcast into a stage show.

High Performance will transform the well-known podcast, which has grown into a movement of people invested in improving their mindset and finding their own version of High Performance. The show will be presented by the podcast presenters Jake Humphrey, one of Britain’s best-respected sports broadcasters, and psychologist professor Damian Hughes.

This dynamic and impactful theatre show will introduce some very special guests as Jake and Damian invite members of the High Performance community to share their journey, demonstrating that high happiness is within us all. The show will open at Norwich Theatre Royal on Sun 5 Feb, 7.30pm.

Speaking about the new show, Jake Humphrey said:

“I am delighted that we are taking High Performance around the country! This is not a live version of a podcast, this is an entirely original theatre production based on the learnings and wisdom from more than 120 of the most high performing people on the planet. I want the audience to leave inspired, uplifted, entertained and ready to find their own version of High Performance.

“For our opening night to be in Norwich – my home city – where my journey began is the biggest thrill of all. Walking out on the stage of the Theatre Royal will be surreal for me, but I can’t wait for the fine people of the fine city of Norwich to be the first to see the show that we have created with the amazing team at the Theatre Royal.”

Musical fans are in for a treat with this new line up of shows with some of the very best musicals from the West End and Broadway. At Norwich Theatre Royal, you will be able to see The Bodyguard (28 Aug – 2 Sep), a musical inspired by a 90s classic film; plus a retake on an old favourite Annie (1 – 5 Aug).

The SpongeBob Musical will plunge the audience into the world of Bikini Bottom as they join SpongeBob, 4 – 8 July, to save the undersea world from destruction, with some great songs written by a line up of rock royalty.. Expect jaw-dropping and inspiring performances from internationally celebrated poppers, lockers, b-boys and b-girls in a festival that showcases local talent alongside global sensations.

With their intense physicality, athletic movement and expression, acclaimed physical theatre company Gecko is heading to the Royal 14 -16 Mar with Kin. The show tells the story of a young child who embarked on an epic journey from Yemen to Palestine in the 1930s.

If drama is more your thing, come and see an unexpected retelling of Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist in Unexpected Twist, 28 Mar – 1 Apr. The story has been written by much-loved children’s author Michael Rosen who combines the Dickens classic with his own story about a new girl in school finding it hard to stay out of trouble.

Norwich Theatre has recently become an Associate Theatre of The Royal Shakespeare Company. This formal partnership will provide more opportunities to enjoy world-class Shakespeare productions in Norfolk, and we are delighted to welcome Julius Caesar to the Royal stage between 6 – 10 Jun.
